The Summer Science Camp 2026 is run by the UCLA Science Project and Teacher Education Program.
Be a Cal Teach Assistant for one full week of camp and receive a $400 scholarship for Fall 2026!
The camp is intended for rising 6th through 9th graders, and has an environmental justice and climate change theme. Master teachers have designed the curriculum and will teach one-week story-lines, with kids signing up for one-week sessions with a particular theme.
Ideally, Cal Teach Assistants will assist one teacher and the same group of 20 kids for one entire week (Monday through Friday) from 8:30-12:30 each day. This will give you the opportunity to work closely with your primary teacher throughout the week and have continuity with the same kids while helping them to implement their science activities from beginning to end. Note that you will also be assisting with the general drop off and pick up at the beginning and end of the camp mornings.
You will attend one of the following weeks:
Week 1: June 29-July 3
Week 2: July 6-10
Week 3: July 13-17
Camps run 8:30-12:30 from Monday through Friday.
*If you are attending Summer Session A and have a course conflict during the week, we may have a few spots for Cal Teach Assistants to assist 2-3 days over the three-week period instead of one full week. You will be able to indicate your situation in the application, if applicable.
Upon completion of the week, and also submitting daily reflections and the online evaluation, you will eligible to receive the $400 scholarship, payable in Fall 2026. The scholarship will be paid through the Financial Aid Office, subject to constraints imposed by financial aid. Please note that this scholarship payment may reduce your loans or other scholarships, depending upon your circumstances. Unfortunately, we cannot make payment through any other process to avoid these financial aid constraints.
You must be enrolled as a continuing undergraduate in Fall 2026 to be eligible for the scholarship.
The camp takes place on the UCLA campus and is in person. There are no remote options.
